Putting Patients First
PULMONARY MEDICINE CONSULTATION
Pulmonary medicine involves the evaluation of the lungs and its interaction with how you feel and breathe.
PULMONARY FUNCTION TESTING

LUNG CANCER AND LUNG NODULE CLINIC
Lung cancer screening CT imaging has reduced morbidity and mortality associated with lung cancer. Our expert physicians can evaluate, screen for lung nodules, as well as biopsy and diagnose lung nodules.

An impactful innovation that holds promise to fight lung cancer is now in use by our physicians at John Muir Health. Robotically assisted bronchoscopy will allow our doctors to achieve more accurate diagnoses of lung nodules which means our patients can begin treatment earlier.
FLEXIBLE BRONCHOSCOPY
Fiberoptic Bronchoscopy is an outpatient procedure performed at John Muir Medical Center where our Board Certified Pulmonologists team with an Anesthesiologist to comfortably guide an advanced diagnostic instrument into the airways of the lungs to obtain a sample from your lungs for testing.
ENDOBRONCHIAL ULTRASOUND (EBUS)
EBUS (endobronchial ultrasound) bronchoscopy is a procedure used to diagnose different types of lung disorders, including inflammation, infections or cancer by using a video camera with an ultrasound sensor to biopsy lymph nodes in the chest.
Minimally invasive and clinically proven treatment for severe emphysema.
Our physicians are the only Pulmonologists in Contra Costa County qualified to assess and place endobronchial valves.

PLEURX CATHETER INSERTION AND MANAGEMENT
A PleurX catheter is a thin, flexible tube that’s placed in your chest to drain fluid from your pleural space. If too much fluid accumulates there, it makes it hard for your lungs to expand all the way and can make you feel short of breath. By
placing a PleurX catheter, we can drain pleural fluid on a regular basis, making it easier for you to breathe.

THORACENTESIS ULTRASOUND GUIDED
Thoracentesis is an outpatient procedure performed in our office or at the John Muir Medical Center whereby fluid which has accumulated in the chest from a medical condition can be safely removed for testing and to improve your breathing.
SLEEP MEDICINE CONSULTATION
Sleep medicine involves the evaluation of sleep related conditions which are a common cause of daytime sleepiness. Common sleep conditions include obstructive sleep apnea, central sleep apnea, and parasomnias.

DIAGNOSTIC HOME SLEEP TESTING
Diagnostic home sleep testing is the most convenient way to test for and diagnose common sleep-related problems like obstructive sleep apnea.
